The short version: your microphone and camera are processed entirely inside your own browser. This site has no server component that receives, stores, or has access to your audio or video — there is nothing for us to collect in the first place. The one exception is the Record & Playback tool, which is described specifically below: it creates a short recording, but that recording stays in your browser's memory and is never uploaded anywhere.

1. What this site does with your microphone and camera

When you click "Start Mic Test" or "Start Camera Test," your browser asks your permission to access the selected microphone or camera, exactly as it would for a video-calling app. Once granted, the audio/video stream is passed directly to your browser's built-in Web Audio and WebRTC APIs to draw the live level meter, waveform, and video preview you see on screen. That stream is never transmitted to any server or saved to disk by these two tools. Closing the tab, refreshing the page, or clicking "Stop" immediately ends access and turns off the meter and preview.

The Speaker Test tool plays a short generated tone through your speakers and does not use your microphone or camera at all, so no permission is requested for it.

The Record & Playback tool is different from the two live tests above: when you click "Start Recording," it captures up to 10 seconds of microphone audio into a temporary in-browser file so you can play it back and hear yourself. That recording is held only in your device's memory using your browser's built-in recording APIs, is never transmitted to any server, and is automatically discarded when you refresh or close the page, click "Record Again," or navigate away. It is saved to your device only if you deliberately click "Download Recording" — that action is entirely your choice, and the file goes directly from your browser to your own device's downloads, not through us.

You can revoke microphone or camera permission at any time through your browser's site settings (usually the lock or camera icon in the address bar), and you can confirm this by checking whether your device's camera indicator light turns off when you stop a test.

2. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and any analytics tool we use may automatically log standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages visited, for security and basic usage statistics. 3. Cookies and third-party advertising

This site is supported by advertising served through third-party ad networks, which may include Adsterra, Monetag, and/or Google AdSense. These networks may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser to measure ad performance and, in some cases, personalize the ads you see based on your browsing activity across different websites. We do not control these cookies directly and do not receive the underlying data they collect.

To limit interest-based advertising across participating networks generally, you can visit the industry opt-out page at optout.aboutads.info, or adjust ad personalization directly in your Google Account settings if applicable.

4. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal data collected about you, and to opt out of certain data sales or sharing (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act). Because this site does not maintain user accounts or a server-side database of visitor identities, most of these requests would need to be directed to the third-party ad and analytics providers named above, whose own policies explain how to exercise those rights with them directly.

5. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect a new ad network or analytics tool. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
